Pewter St. Olaf Badge

The ONLY Viking saint! This shrine in Kirkwall, in the Orkneys, was a popular pilgrimage site for inhabitants of Northern Britain and Scandinavia. The first pilgrims began to arrive at the site of his death in 1117 even before his sanctity was conferred. This badge is based on the original preserved at Sånga church, Angermanland, Sweden. Produced in the Orkneys, circa 1250.
