About our Wide Sword Belt
If “the clothes make the man” (or woman!), then the accessories make the clothes. Or at least, they help turn them into a proper outfit. Designed as a balance between authenticity, function and cost, these belts are perfect for either a simpler look, or to create a “custom” belt by adding your own fittings. This robust belt is over 1 ½ inches wide and mounted with highly authentic belt hardware in the form of a Ridged buckle with engraved plate and a decorated acorn strap end. Belts of this sort were frequently worn by knights to suspend their swords. This belt would be appropriate for the period 1250-1450.The total length of the belt is over 60 inches.
And what better to hang on your new belt than one of our kidney pouches? Based on a common 14th and 15th century design, the brass fittings on the pouch are taken directly from originals in the Strong Collection. Sturdily constructed and large enough to carry your essentials, this pouch is the perfect way to practically and discretely carry your wallet and modern necessities, while accessorizing your wardrobe with a piece of kit that’s as “close to the original” as we could make it.
