This large brass ear spoon is based on a fine example in the Danish National museum. It features a Valkerye holding forth a drinking horn to welcome the slain into Valhalla. This is one of the most important articles of personal hygiene in the Viking culture. Norse, 9th century. 3 1/2 inches long.
